Unfortunately, Coco’s breath doesn’t always smell like flowers, so here is a great recipe from Skinny Ms. for doggie breath mints that will make her drool in delight while kicking that bad breath. These treats are full of parsley, which has an overbearing flavor and also helps to eliminate bacteria!

What You’ll Need

Rolled Oats

Old Fashioned Oats
2 1/2 cups

Fresh Parsley

Fresh Parsley
1/2 cup, finely chopped

Fresh Mint

Fresh Mint
1/2 cup, finely chopped

Large Egg
1 egg

1/4 cup, or more as needed

Melted Coconut Oil

Unrefined Coconut Oil
3 tablespoons

Baking Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325° F
  2. Add oats to a blender and pulse to a flour-like consistency. In a large bowl whisk together diced parsley and mint, egg, water, and oil. Add oat flour and stir to combine. Knead dough a few times then turn out onto a lightly floured surface.
  3. Using your hands or a rolling pin, flatten dough to about 1/8″ thick. Using a cookie cutter or knife cut out approximately 40 (1-inch mints) mints. Place mints about 1/4-inch apart on a parchment lined or non-stick cookie sheet. Bake 35-40 minutes, or until golden and crispy.
  4. Allow mints to cool completely before serving. Store in an airtight container.

Dogs can get bad breath from plaque build-up caused by infrequent brushing, insufficient water intake, or just from the foods they eat. Although these doggie breath mints can help with mild bad breath, if your dog has severe bad breath please consult your veterinarian-nothing can replace a full dental cleaning for your pet. This can be a sign of a more serious dental problem.
